We started NextNav with an audacious goal: build the future of geolocation.

GPS is a critical part of the modern economy. Beyond well-known consumer-facing applications like turn-by-turn navigation, GPS is used for everything from emergency response, to synchronizing wireless networks, to timing for financial transactions. Yet as our reliance on GPS continues to grow, we’re starting to recognize its limitations. GPS doesn’t work indoors or in urban areas. It can’t tell you how high up you are. It isn’t secure – it can be jammed and spoofed. To overcome these limitations, we’re building a next generation platform from the ground up – one that works indoors and in urban areas, provides “floor level” altitude, and offers security against cyberthreats. When implemented at scale, our platform unlocks a whole new generation of location services that weren’t possible until now – indoor navigation for mobile phones, urban navigation for autonomous vehicles and drones, and a whole host of applications we haven’t even imagined yet.
